Campus Greening Initiative

Aware that it is critical to practice what one preaches, our chapter of Net Impact recently launched a Campus Greening Initiative. As these sentiments are strong on the UC Davis campus in general - demonstrated via the Campus Center for the Environment - it was not difficult to find relevant avenues in which to instill these values. Practical applications include working to ensure the new Graduate School of Management building carries as high a level of LEED certification as possible, inviting the UC Davis Recycling Program to present at meetings, encouraging Zero-Waste and Composting activities at the GSM, building ties to related campus organizations, and working closely with the Community Consulting Group to offer and promote a project for the UC Davis Sustainability Advisory Committee.

These initiatives, and many more, were incorporated within Davis Net Impact's submission to the 2006-2007 Green Challenge Competition.
